10th Grade

In 10th Grade, students will take a Career Interest Inventory called the ONET Interest Profiler. This is a tool to help match student interests with careers/occupations. Students complete a 60 question online interest inventory which scores automatically upon completion. The results give you a score for six different occupational types/"codes":

Realistic (R)

Investigative (I)

Artistic (A)

Social (S)

Enterprising (E)

Conventional (C)

Taking the top three scores ("Summary Codes"), students can find the occupations that match their interests.

Tenth graders will also complete an occupation outline by researching an occupation from the Occupational Outlook Handbook website. Topics to explore include:

- Nature of the Work/What do you do?

- Working Conditions/Work Environment

- Education & Training/Level of Education

High School Courses Needed?

- Job Outlook/Employment Potential

- Salary & Earnings

- Related Occupations

- Sources for Additional Information

Tenth graders will also learn how to navigate Career and College websites.

10th graders have the opportunity to go on a Health Care Career Day field trip in March at Finger lakes Community College.

Serving Community Healthcare in the Finger Lakes will be held in March at FLCC Canandaigua Campus. Tour guides volunteers will chaperone students to classrooms for 20-minute presentations, exhibitor area and lunch.
